We can all agree that life can get rough really quick especially when we are moving from one task to another without setting time aside to rest and recharge.
I have found myself stressed, tired, and extremely overwhelmed when 1) I haven’t spent time with the Lord 2) haven’t taken time to slow down and rest and 3) have forgotten the truths that the Lord speaks over me.
One of the truths that Lord speaks over us 365 times in the Bible is to not be afraid. On the other hand He encourages us to be courageous, recognizing that his love is steadfast, and that His strength is everlasting.

I am recognizing that more than once or twice a week when I get overwhelmed. The following verses have helped me refocus my thoughts, mind, and soul to the giver of life.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
I love this verse because it reminds us to think beyond ourselves and our troubles. Instead, it tells us to focus on what is TRUE, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. In the midst of reflecting and processing our tiredness, we are to also remember the goodness of the Lord and to embrace resting in His presence even in our overwhelmed state.

Ephesians 6: 10-12 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

It is important to know that even though people can make decisions to partake in actions that harm us, it may not be them alone that are doing so, this is a spiritual world.
The devil is near them whispering lies of insecurities, rejection, and abandonment into their ears. Recall situations where you have had a long week where relationships were not going right, work was chaotic, and your time with the Lord was none-existent. Remember from now on to not fight yourself, or the people around you, but to pray against the enemy and whatever he is trying to build around you and to be strong in the Lord’s mighty power by putting on the full armor of God.
Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Most of my stress occurs when I am thinking about the future, sometimes instantly believing the lie that what I desire might not be attainable. This verse is perfect because it reminds us to take it one day at a time. When we try to cram all our troubles into one day, we are easily overwhelmed especially when tomorrow is not guaranteed to us.
Psalm 1:1-3 “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.”
I love the image these verses paint. It is clear about what to do, the hard part is planting ourselves in the Lord. We must fully trust and have faith in Him to keep us.
It is doable when we meditate on the Lord’s truths day and night by remembering His goodness in our life and recognize that being near Him is life and to be outside Him and His people is death.
Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.”
The Lord knows you. Allow him to strengthen you by letting Him honestly reveal what is in your heart (good or bad). He knows what is inside of you, if it contradictory to His kingdom that He has put inside of your heart through the Holy Spirit then He will see it and lead you away from that into an everlasting way through the fruit of the Spirit.
Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
Above everything in the whole world, you were fashioned from the image of God. You are placed in His heart above all things. You are valuable and worthy because of Christ. Rest in the fact that the Lord will provide for His own because He does not abandon His own people. Example: the Israelites.

Psalm 139:14 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well.”
The Lord is Good. Know it, believe it! Don’t doubt his faithfulness in your life.
As you have taken the time to read these verses, I hope you find rest in the Lord. He is faithful to provide us with peace when we ask, and He is able to sustain us when we are overwhelmed.
Remember that these verses only provide a small window into who He is and that reading further can really open your eyes to all that he offers us. Lean on Him, Learn His truths about you and rest assured that you are deeply loved and sought after.
